Rose lives in Kampala, Uganda. She is a widow with three children who completed school. She is not looking after additional members of the family. She has been selling drinks in a shop at retail for ten years, working seven days a week. She is also operating an eating place as an additional source of income.
She has requested a loan of UGX 1, 200,000 from MCDT- SACCO to enable her stock more crates of soda, beer, sugar, boxes of soap, cartons of salt, water and fruit drinks for sale. Her challenges include high transport costs. Her dream is to expand her business and accumulate profits that will enable her to build more houses. She joined MCDT because she wanted funds to boost her business. She stays in her house with access to electricity and no piped water. Her major monthly expenses include power bills.
