Florence lives in Kampala, Uganda. She is single with four children and all of them attend school. She is looking after her old parents. She has been operating a hair salon for five years, working seven days a week. She does not have any other source of income.
She has requested a loan of UGX 600,000 from MCDT- SACCO to enable her to stock synthetic hair, hair oils, cream relaxers and skin oils. Her challenges include high electricity tariffs and seasonality. Her dream is to own a fully stocked beauty salon. She joined MCDT because she wanted a boost in her capital. She stays in a rented house with access to electricity but no piped water. Her major monthly expenses are rent and school fees.
