Prom, aged 64, is a citizen of Thmor Koul district located in Cambodia’s Battambang province. He is the single father of one child. To continually support his family, Prom works so many jobs. He raises pigs, farms rice, and buys and sells trash. Prom has been with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner) for four previous loan cycles, with which he succeeded in relieving the burdens of his beloved family. To strengthen and expand his pig-raising business, Prom is applying for a KHR 1,500,000 loan. With the requested loan, he will buy pig feeds and more piglets to raise. With the help of this loan, Prom expects that his pigs will be healthier and fatter so that he can earn greater profits from this pig-raising business.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
