Dorling Andrés is a young man who is 100% Saucian; raised in the La Palma settlement, with his mother’s support and with no father, with good principles and a love of work. He works as an elementary school teacher in a nearby settlement. This job has allowed him to buy his own house and help his mother who is deserving of his love. He helps her for having made him such a good person.

Since he went to live in Sauce, his life has changed because he has better living conditions, thanks to his salary and the loans he got from Kiva through CEPRODEL.

One of his greatest dreams is to have a dignified home with all the conditions needed to provide his family the best that they deserve. It’s for this reason that he is requesting this loan from Kiva so that he can add a room and buy building materials such as iron bars, bricks, girders, cement, sand, zinc metal sheeting, and to pay for labor. He plans to repay the loan with part of his salary.

He trusts in God that his loan will be approved by investors with good hearts who have helped thousands of Nicaraguan families who have not been able to achieve their dreams because of a lack of resources.

This loan is administered by Centro de Promocion del Desarrollo Local (CEPRODEL), one of Kiva’s larger partners in Central America. Founded in 1991 and based in Managua, Nicaragua, CEPRODEL specializes in the development and funding of housing cooperatives for traditionally marginalized communities, the provision of microfinance services to small businesses, and the promotion of innovative renewable energy projects. In addition, unlike many microfinance institutions in the area that have chosen to avoid the rural areas of the country due to the increased financial risk, CEPRODEL provides financial services to numerous clients in the agriculture and livestock industry. Supporting a borrower through CEPRODEL means contributing to the promotion and sustainability of this important work in Nicaragua.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
