Rose lives in Kampala, Uganda. She is married with two children, one of whom attends school. She is not looking after any other family members. She has been selling charcoal from home at retail for the last eight years, working seven days a week. She has no other source of income.
Rose has requested a loan of UShs 800,000 from MCDT- SACCO to enable her to stock more sacks of charcoal for sale. Her challenges include seasonality and defaulters. Her dream is to be able to afford to buy a full truck of charcoal for sale and also to become a wholesaler. She joined MCDT because she wanted more capital for her business. She rents a house with access to both electricity and piped water. Her major monthly expenses are rent and school fees.
