Juline lives in the village of Les Anglais, in the South Department of Haiti about 6 hours from the capital Port-au-Prince. She lives with her mother and brother and has never had electricity in her home. Juline learned about EarthSpark's work when a group passed through her town years ago, sparking her interest in solar energy. She has been a dedicated clean energy entrepreneur ever since.
While she had a lot of success selling efficient cookstoves and solar light bulbs, Juline lacks the capital to grow her business. With a Kiva loan, Juline will be set up with a “Business in a Bag”, a kit containing a personalized mix of small-scale clean energy products, marketing materials and training on energy literacy, SMS tracking of sales, and basic business skills. Juline will use her loan to purchase solar energy products such as solar light bulbs and desk lamps for sale in her community. She would like to sell EarthSpark’s clean energy products because she wants to see the organization get bigger and expand its services in Haiti. She also feels that she has been with EarthSpark since the beginning and she would like to continue to be a part of the team.
