Sabah is a 48-year-old Lebanese married woman living with her husband and three children. Two of her children attend school and one working. In 2002, she started running her own business selling accessories and Brazilian gold. Her income is really essential to help her husband with the household expenses and to pay her children’s school fees. Her husband works in security in a local company and they cooperate together to meet the needs of life. Today, she is asking for a loan from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l. to expand her inventory of accessories and gold. Her intention at this stage is to augment her sales to amplify her income. In the future, she is planning to open her own shop and diversify her items even more.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
