Goretti is a new client to this institution, who is engaged in agriculture. She grows passion fruit, pineapple and water melon. She is married and has five children, four of whom are of school-going age. Goretti has been doing this business for the last six years on the same piece of land, and because of this, the soil has lost its fertility. However Goretti doesn't have any other piece of land for the same economic activity that has shaped her livelihood. As a result, she visited an agricultural advisor who encouraged her to apply fertilisers if she wants higher output, and she therefore come to Ugafode Micro Finance Ltd for financial support. Gorreti has been facing several challenges in doing her business, ranging from unpredictable weather, lack of modern storage facilities for perishable products, pests and diseases, in addition to little output due to the land's reduced fertility. However, she is hopeful that with this facility things will improve, output will increase and she will be in a position to take care of her family, pay school fees for her siblings and develop and later buy more land for expansion.
