Myrvete was widowed long ago and is the mother of two children. They all live on the east side of northern Albania, in a little town. “I basically raised the children all on my own, yet have no regrets; they turned out to be very good children and they respect me and appreciate all the sacrifices I have made for them,” Myrvete said. Her children are both grownups now and both have their families, yet one of them lives with Myrvete because this is a family custom that is followed by most families in northern Albania.
Myrvete operates a little store where she has been selling in limited quantities a variety of items from the very beginning such as food, toiletries, clothes, handcrafts, etc. Now she wants to stock up on more quantity of items and this is the reason that she requested this loan of 90,000 Albanian lek.
About VisionFund Albania
VisionFund Albania is a micro-finance subsidiary of child hunger nonprofit World Vision International. Striving to improve child welfare, the organization offers a variety of loan products designed for rural, traditionally underserved clients and their families. These products include agriculture, business and household improvement loans, as well as "integration loans" targeted to help the poorest, most vulnerable Albanian households acquire value chain resources.
While VFA is focused on the empowerment of the poor overall, it pays special attention to women. About 60% of loans to entrepreneurs on Kiva go to women.
