Abir is a 39-year-old, married woman. She lives with her husband and three children. They are all attending school. She is obliged to work continually as she is responsible with her husband for covering the family expenses and responding to their children’s needs. She started her business in 2003 when she opened her own shoe shop. She provides her customers with good quality products at fair prices. She earns a barely fair income that is not sufficient to cover her costs; this is the reason of why she’s asking today for a loan from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l. to purchase a new collection of shoes. In the near future, she wishes to open other branches and maybe hire new employees to help her achieve the work tasks and therefore earn higher income.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
