Nina is a 41-year-old married Lebanese woman living with her husband and three children. One of her children works, and the other two still attend school. In 2008, Nina started running her own business from home by selling makeup, accessories and perfumes. Her income is important to help with her household expenses and to pay her children's school fees. Nina's husband works at a local company, and they cooperate to meet the needs of life. Today, Nina is asking for a loan from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l. to expand her inventory of perfumes, accessories and makeup. Her intention at this stage is to augment her sales so as to amplify her income. In the future, she is planning to open her own shop.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
