Veronicah is a 42-year-old farmer in Kitale county in Kenya, where she lives with her husband and four children who are all in school. She has been in farming for the past 15 years producing horticultural crops, milk, and poultry products which she sells at the local market.
She is requesting a 70,000 KES loan from Juhudi Kilimo to purchase poultry birds to sell poultry products and earn extra income that will boost her livelihood and help her pay for her children's education. She aspires to expand her dairy and poultry projects and double her production in the next five years.
High costs of farm inputs, inadequate capital, and unreliable rainfall are her major challenges in farming.
Veronicah is grateful to Juhudi Kilimo for the great support to farmers.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
