Chut was born in 1956. She has two children who are married; one is a bank employee, the other a plastic repairer. Her husband sells cassava flour. Chut makes and sells traditional sweet soups in a market. She has done this work for 2 years and earns 3,000,000 VND per month. Her family’s total earnings are about 8,500,000 VND per month.
Chut has participated in SEDA's credit program since 2007. In the last cycle she borrowed 9,632,000 VND and repaid the loan on time. In this loan cycle, she would like to borrow 10,528,000 VND to buy ingredients, bowls and spoons for her soup business. She wants to use the profits to enlarge her stall.
The Center of Small Enterprise Development Assistance (SEDA) is a non-profit organization whose vision is to create “a society without poverty.” Founded in 2004, SEDA provides microfinance services to low-income and disadvantaged people in rural areas of Hanoi and the northern provinces of Vietnam through its Binh Minh Micro-Finance Program.
