Her oldest daughter is married and lives independently; her second, a son, works and helps her financially while also taking online classes on weekends; her third, a daughter, is a school student and her youngest, a son, is also studying at a school in the city. She owns her home, which is the fruit of her labor.

Doña María Mercedes works as a day laborer but only when acquaintances call her to perform some task. She also raises guinea pigs and owns cattle, which she milks for sale. She cultivates vegetables in her fields, which she sells, as well.

Her new loan is to purchase seeds for her plants as well as compost and a better quality of guinea pigs. Her goal is to expand her guinea pig raising business..

Rosas Rojas es un banco constituido hace algunos años, está formado por 9 mujeres quienes son amigas y conocidas, las señoras se reúnen una vez al mes para conversar de varios temas y también para salir de la rutina diaria, se caracterizan por ser amables, gentiles y muy carismáticas. Viven en el cantón Paute lugar que goza de una exuberante belleza gracias a sus tierras fértiles donde se cosechan las más hermosas flores, sus hermosos paisajes son inolvidables y el calor de su gente es muy cálido.

Una de las socias de este grupo es la señora. María Mercedes, forma parte del banco comunal Rosas Rojas hace dos años, tiene 49 años de edad, es madre soltera de 4 hijos de 29, 20, 16 y 10 años de edad, su primera hija es casada y vive independiente, su segundo hijo trabaja y le ayuda económicamente y también los fines de semana se dedica a estudiar en un colegio a distancia, su tercera hija está estudiando en el colegio y su ultimo hijo estudia en una escuelita de la ciudad. La casa en la que vive es de su propiedad siendo el fruto de su trabajo.

Doña María Mercedes trabaja de jornalera pero solo cuando le llaman sus conocidas para que realice esta actividad, también se dedica a la cría de cuyes y tiene ganado que le produce leche la misma que es para la venta. Esta cultivando sus terrenos con hortalizas que también son para la venta.

Su nuevo crédito lo va a invertir en la compra de semillas para sus cultivos, abono y cuyes de mejor calidad.

Su meta es ampliar su criadero de cuyes.
