Nahason is aged thirty-eight and is a farmer in Nyamira county in Kenya, where he lives with his wife and four children, who are all in school. He has been in farming for the past seventeen years, producing milk and vegetables. He sells second-hand clothes as an additional source of income.
He is requesting a loan of 60,000 KES to buy a dairy cow, which will give him more milk and more income. This will enable him to uplift his livelihood and pay for his children's school fees.
He aspires to buy two more dairy cows in the next five years.
High transport costs, pests, and diseases are his major challenges in farming.
Nahason is grateful to Juhudi Kilimo for giving him the loan.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
