Vilma, age 41, is married and has 11 children. She lives in Sto. Niño, Tukuran, Zamboanga del Sur. Vilma operates a fishing business selling seafood products including fish and shrimp in the local community to earn a living. She has been in the business for 11 years and earns 3,000 PHP per month. She requested a loan of 5,000 PHP to repair fishing boats. Vilma been a member of GDMPC since 2008. In the future, Vilma wants to save a reserve for future emergencies.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
