Carlos Manuel
Carlos, 34, lives in the warm city of Chincha with his wife and two children who are 15 and 8 years of age. Carlos is a loving father who above all is very tenacious. Since he was a boy he learned how to earn his livelihood with the sweat of his brow since his parents were of humble means and sometimes their income was insufficient to cover household expenses so Carlos worked to help them out. As time passed, Carlos was able to finish his secondary education but would have liked to have gone to university.

Carlos works day to day as a driver for a firm. He works about 8 hours daily and is able to cover household expense with the fruits of his labor. He believes he does well at work because he’s very responsible and above all conscientious about his work.

Carlos is very grateful to Kiva lenders because thanks to the support provided he will be able to do some home improvements like repair walls, build the façade, paint and install water pipes to provide his family with better quality of life and he can continue working towards making his greatest dream reality: to finish building his house and provide his children with a good education.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
