Tomas
Tomas has his wife but they are unmarried; they have three children. They’ve lived in El Trópico in Cochabamba for many years. He’s from Chapare Province in Cochabamba Department. He came from his community in Melga, one of Bolivia’s poorest places, like most people seeking better life opportunities. It’s hard to control production in his community due to weather variations and it becomes more and more scarce each time which is why he decided to move to El Trópico. But as time has passed and with much effort and dedication he was able to buy his piece of farmland and today he works in agriculture producing pineapples. The loan he’s requesting is to expand the pineapple production and for maintenance of the pineapple and manioc crops to improve his standard of living and also his wife’s who has always collaborated with his work. (The other person in the photo is his wife.)
