Nasreen's Group
In this Group: Nasreen, Imrana, Safia, Fouzia, Munawar, Farzana, Gulshan
Nasreen is a 45-year-old hard-working woman. She lives in Pakistan with her husband, 4 sons, and 3 daughters. Two of her sons are rickshaw drivers and her husband is a taxi driver. Though her sons and her husband are earning, still their income is insufficient to meet the family's needs. They are passing through a very difficult time because Nasreen has a big family and more people to eat than earning ones.

Nasreen is trying to contribute some amount to her family's income by stitching clothes at home. She provides tailor services in her community. Her monthly income is only 500 Pkr. She wants to generate more income by purchasing a new sewing machine. However due to lack of money she is unable to do this. For that, Nasreen as a member of a 7-person lending group, has requested for a loan from Kiva's partner BRAC Pakistan to purchase a sewing machine to stitch more dresses to satisfy the needs of her clients more professionally. She dreams of giving her children a quality education and a good life.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
