A native of a rural village of the Ponhea Krek district of Kampong Cham province, Non is the 49-year-old mother of five children, one of whom depends on her and is still in school.
Rice farming and pig raising have been the main sources of her family’s income for 27 years. The current business earns her about KHR 23,000 per day, and she manages to save about KHR 12,000 each day after offsetting daily expenses.
Non has been with VisionFund for two cycles and completely repaid her loans, which helped her to improve her family’s living condition. Now she is requesting a loan of KHR 2,400,000. She is going to use her loan to buy fertilizers for her farmland.
She hopes this loan will enable her to earn more income so as to improve her standard of living.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
