Ron, 47 years old, is a citizen residing in a rural area of Kandal Stoeng district in Kandal province, Cambodia. She is married and a mother of seven children. Two of Ron's children are currently in school. This hard-working mother supports her family by selling grocery items such as canned goods, sugar, salt, shampoo, soap, etc. This is Ron's second time requesting a loan via VisionFund (Kiva's partner). The first loan that she already received and paid back completely enabled her to buy more grocery items in order to satisfy her customers. Now Ron is applying for a USD 500 loan with VisionFund to purchase a motorbike for her children to use for commuting. Ron would like to dedicate all of her efforts to advancing her children's education as much as possible.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
