Beatrice is aged 46. She is a farmer in Kitale county in Kenya, where she lives with her husband and four children who are all schooling. She has been in farming for the past seven years, producing milk and poultry products, which she sells at the local market in her area. She runs a retail shop as an additional source of income.
She is requesting a 52,000 KES (Kenyan shillings) loan from Juhudi Kilimo to buy and insure a dairy cow, which will bring her more income from selling the milk that will help her in uplifting her livelihood and paying for her children's school fees.
The high costs of feeds and inadequate capital are her major challenges in farming.
Beatrice is very grateful to Juhudi kilimo for the support.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
