The desire to get ahead in life is something that is born in the heart and there are not impediments that exist to obstruct the realization of dreams. This is the case of Fabian, a young 30-year-old man, who in spite of being disabled, deaf and mute since birth, he has risked everything to create his own workshop to manufacture horseshoes in order to supply his area with these necessities. El deseo de salir adelante es un suceso que nace del corazón y no existen impedimentos que obstaculicen la realización de los sueños. Este es el caso de Fabián un joven de 30 años que a pesar de encontrarse en situación de discapacidad, sordomudo de nacimiento, se lo ha jugado todo por montar su propio taller de fabricación de herraduras, con el fin de suplir las necesidades de su localidad. Hoy recurre a un préstamo por que está decidido a dar pasos en grande y convertirse en un microempresario, y para lograrlo necesita comprar la materia prima para dar inicio a su mayor sueño. Tener negocio propio.

Fabián inició montando su taller en la parte trasera de su casa, debido su condición económica actual, pero sueña con tener en el corto plazo un local que le permita el acceso a un mayor número de clientes generando mayores ingresos que le permitan obtener una mejor calidad de vida para el y su familia.

This loan is structured on Kiva as a bullet loan, which means a single payment is required at the end of the loan term. By Colombian law, Kiva's partner Interactuar is required to offer borrowers loans with a variable interest rate that fluctuates with the market rate. Because fixed monthly payments are applied first to interest and then to principal, Interactuar is unable to predict upfront what portion of each repayment would go towards the loan principal. This creates a challenge with Kiva's system, which doesn't allow for unpredictable principal payments, and can result in some Interactuar clients appearing falsely delinquent. To remedy this, the loan has an end-of-term repayment plan on Kiva, but the borrower will continue scheduled monthly repayments to Interactuar, who will then pass along the principal amount to Kiva lenders. This means that you may see repayments made on this loan throughout the repayment term, as opposed to receiving repayment in full at the end of the loan term.
