The "Bonanza" committee has been around for two years. It has 25 female members. It is quite a large group but, in spite of this fact, all the members get on very well and they work together so that they can help each other and lend a hand whenever it is needed.

Rita is a member of this group. She sells food as an itinerant street vendor and also works recycling materials such as aluminum, plastic, paper, metal, etc. She is a very selfless woman who starts work very early every morning and finishes very late at night. She is very proud of everything that she does as hers is decent and honest work and it allows her to help her family.

Rita is requesting this loan to buy aluminum, plastic, paper, metal, etc. which she will then be able to re-sell and enjoy greater profit margins. All of the members of this group are very grateful for the opportunity that they are receiving.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
