Giovanna Jaqueline
View original language description ↓
Giovanna is 37 years old. She is married and has two sons who are still dependent on her and her husband. She studied accounting in university but no longer practices her profession because of a lack of opportunities. She lives with her in-laws in the Razuri neighborhood in Trujillo, Peru.

Giovanna has sold children’s and baby clothing since 1997, though she left for a time to care for her sons and also because she had insufficient resources. She was able to take up her business again thanks to an initial loan of 300 Peruvian Soles ($100) that was given to her by the Manuela Ramos organization, which she invested in purchasing merchandise. Giovanna belongs to Las Jadeitas Communal Bank.

Giovanna will use the present loan of 1900 Soles ($700) to purchase clothing for the Mother’s Day holiday and the winter season; the loan will be repaid in 4 months. She will deliver the clothing to the homes of relatives, friends, and other customers who have placed orders.

Giovanna dreams of having her own stand where she can sell her merchandise. That way she would be able to improve her income, which would in turn allow her to buy her own house.
