Nonito is a 56-year-old resident of Lower Usogan, Bonifacio, in the Philippines. For 33 years, Nonito has helped to support his family, using the small amount of money he generates (6,000 PHP monthly) from his corn and coconut production business.
This year, as a member of GDMPC, Nonito is applying for a loan of 10,000 PHP to purchase additional seeds, seedlings, and young crops for his business. One day, Nonito hopes to expand his corn and coconut production business.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
