La Vaquita De Cayambe Group
In this Group: Hilda, Andres, Dolores
This communal bank is comprised of three people. They want to have the opportunity to grow financially in farming, which is what they like the most. They have a great desire to get ahead, to improve their incomes, and to meet their families’ needs.

Hilda is the president of this group. She is a humble person from the barren Ecuadorian highlands. She has values like honor, responsibility, work, and unconditional love for her family. It is for these reasons that she is seen as a person worthy of representing her communal bank. She has also, therefore, won over the love of her community.

The loan requested from Fodemi is to buy a cow for breeding and a calf. This purchase will be the start to having a lot of head of cattle. Hilda’s dream is to have a farm close to her house where she is able to have a lot of animals. She wants to be able to milk the cows and sell the milk in the city. She also wants to have her family together with her and to help give her children a good education, which their parents did not have when they were children.

The organization works with vulnerable populations, especially women, in the marginalized urban and rural sectors of Ecuador. This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
