Matuli is a 68-year-old married woman with 6 children. She has a small farm and raises pigs to earn a living. She has been doing this for 2 years. Matuli has requested a loan to buy young piglets, barbed wire for the fence, pig food, nails and timber. She just became a member of SPBD this year. With her profits, Matuli hopes to expand her farm by adding more pigs.
South Pacific Business Development (SPBD) improves conditions for families living in poverty by providing accessible credit, training, and guidance to help them start, grow and maintain micro-businesses, build assets, finance home improvements, and afford to educate their children. 99% of SPBD’s loans go to women, who can borrow in groups to guarantee one another rather than put up collateral.
