Ronilo is a 29-year-old resident of Gata Daku, Clarin. He helps his family meet its needs from the modest amount of PHP 7,000 that he gains monthly from his gardening business, now five years old.
However, this year, he has become a member of GDMPC, and he has applied for a loan at GDMPC micro finance of PHP 14,500 to purchase additional seeds, seedlings, and young crops to raise. Ronilo wants to expand his business one day.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
