Janira is the coordinator of the group La Buena Nueva (Good New) 3 & 5, located in the city of Samana, in one of the rural areas surrounded by water of the Atlantic ocean. Many of the members are selling goods like bread, clothing, shoes or cosmetics. Others sell seafood, run fried food stalls and other businesses.

Janira lives together with her long-term partner and her little child. She is running a bakery where she sells bread. She started her business around six years ago. She has been investing every loan to increase her sales and to buy different gadgets. This is her 11th loan. She said that her most difficult challenge has been to establish her business, but she has made it possible to sell to her community and others nearby.

She will use this loan to buy ingredients for the bakery. She is hoping to make her dreams come true: to have a prosperous life and a good business. She thanks all of you for your support!

Additional Information

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
