Florence lives in Kampala, Uganda. She is single with eight children; five of them attend school. She does not look after any other family members.
She has been selling charcoal from home at retail for two years and works seven days a week. She does not have any other source of income.
She has requested a loan of UGX 400,000 from MCDT- SACCO to stock more sacks of charcoal for sale. Her challenges include seasonality. Her dream is to start selling green bananas as well. She joined MCDT because of the low interest charged on loans. She rents a house without access to electricity or piped water. Her major monthly expenses include rent and school fees.
