Bassam is a 39-year-old man. He’s married and lives in Lebanon with his wife and three children. They are all studying. He is the one responsible for covering his family expenses and responding to their needs. He also has his wife’s support; she works at one of the local Lebanese hospitals. Bassam is obliged to work continually, for he wants to enhance his family’s way of life. He has been working in the construction field since 1990. His specialty is floor covering, and he has gained a fair number of clients asking for his services. Though satisfied with what he has attained so far, he suffers from a bad financial situation; that’s the reason of why he’s asking today for a loan from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l to improve his business by allowing him to purchase new construction tools, for he wants to continue offering the best quality of work for his clients. In the near future, Bassam plans to take more loans to open his own paving shop. This is how he works really hard to achieve his goals.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
