Claudio
Claudio is part of the Mis Sueños (My Dreams) communal bank in the city of Talca. For ten years he has made a living in the area of selling firewood. He says that he works outside of his home and in these moments he can be found gathering wood to sell in the winter season; the months with the strongest sales are March through September. He goes out in search of firewood in the mountains and woods, and sometimes buys the wood to sell to his customers. He sometimes buys his merchandise from wood distributers and other times he goes out to find it in the woods, countryside, and mountains.

With the loan he will buy gasoline, chains, oil, and a power saw. One of Claudio's goals is to sell much more than last year, which is why he can be found gathering wood and chopping it to sell and to generate higher income so with this he can aim for a better quality of life.

Claudio lives together with his wife and two children of 4 and 20 years old. His dream for work is to sell as much as he can and his dream for his family is to see that his children have a good future and to give them a good life. He is very happy and grateful for the opportunity offered by Fondo Esperanza because it will allow him to invest in his business. In regards to the communal bank group that he is a part of, he says that very good communication exists within it. On the other hand, the training has helped him to learn new sales and accounting strategies.

Talca belongs to the region of Maule, located in the center area of the country. This is the administrative, economic, and cultural center of the region, being the most important city of the Chilean Central Valley. There is a curious reference to Talca that exists in Chile: the phrase "Talca, Paris, and London." Among the myths on this matter some say that this is a derivation of what was originally said by an Englishman, "Talca looks like London," for the abundant fog that frequently covers the city during the winter season, similar to the capital of the United Kingdom.
