Helen lives in Kinuman Sur, Ozamis City. She earns 5,000 PHP monthly by raising hogs. She uses her income to support the needs of her seven children. For a 44-year-old mother, there’s nothing that can make her happier than to see her children successful in their studies. This year, Helen borrows 10,000 PHP from GDMPC micro credit to purchase feed and other supplies. Her plan in the future is to hopefully improve her business in order to provide her children with a better education.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
