Sun A. lives in Chy Kreng District, Siem Reap Province. As a fishermA. in Tonle Sap Lake, A. earns about $5.83 per day while his wife, Mrs. Dol Chhun, a farmer, earns about $1.67 per day. They have three children, all of whom are young and live in the family’s home. Two of their children fish with their father and earn around $2.83 per day. In order to expand business and improve the family’s living conditions, A. is now seeking a $1000 loA. to purchase a fishing boat and fishing tools. Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
