Guillermina Mercedes owns a business making food such as the traditional and delicious "gallo pinto" (made with rice and beans), fried eggs and other tasty dishes in the town of León, Nicaragua. She's been in this line of work for 21 years. She leaves her home at 4:30 a.m. and opens her business at 5 a.m. She finishes with breakfast at 10 a.m., and in the afternoons she sells cracklings from 4 to 8 p.m. She does this work in order to support her household, since she's a single mother.
Guillermina is requesting a loan that she'll use to purchase rice, beans, olive oil, chicken, firewood, plates, disposable spoons and plastic bags.

Founded in 1991 and based in Managua, Nicaragua, CEPRODEL specializes in the development and funding of housing cooperatives for traditionally marginalized communities, the provision of microfinance services to small businesses, and the promotion of innovative renewable energy projects. In addition, unlike many microfinance institutions in the area that have chosen to avoid the rural areas of the country due to the increased financial risk, CEPRODEL provides financial services to numerous clients in the agriculture and livestock industry.
