Noudjihou is a group with four members, who all live in the same village. The group’s representative is called Romaine, and is pictured with her hand raised in the photo. She is 32 years of age, and is married to Didier. The couple has four children, some of whom are at school and all under their care. Romaine lives with her children and husband, and together the couple makes sure that the various household expenses are provided for.

For almost 15 years Romaine has worked selling poultry in a market in Benin, and she gets her supplies in the Benin regions. This is the fourth time that she and the other members of the Noudjihou group have requested financial support from Alidé. They have done so to increase their working capital, as well as to better meet their customers’ requests. They have successfully repaid their prior loans.

NOUDJIHOU est un groupe de quatre personnes, dont les membres résident dans le même village. La représentante du groupe, Romaine (dont la main est levée sur la photo), est âgée de 32 ans et est mariée à un certain Didier. Le couple a quatre enfants, dont certains scolarisés et tous à leur charge. Romaine vit ensemble avec ses enfants et son mari. Le couple assure ensemble les différentes charges de la maison. Depuis près de quinze ans, Romaine vend des volailles dans un marché du Bénin. Romaine s’approvisionne dans des régions du Benin. C’est la quatrième fois que, Romaine et les autres membres du groupe NOUDJIHOU sollicitent l’appui financier de ALIDé en vue de renforcer leur fonds de roulement et leur activité et de mieux répondre aux exigences de leur clientèle. Les crédits reçus antérieurement ont été bien remboursés.

About Alidé

Alidé is a Beninese NGO that works to reduce poverty by offering sustainable access to productive loans like this one in addition to savings, training sessions, and social work to low-income families.

Supporters of this loan should be aware that there is some risk of being repaid late. Because the Beninois Ministry of Finance has imposed restrictions on the amount of money Alidé can send to Kiva, the organization can only send monthly repayments in installments smaller than $13,000. This means that some Kiva lenders may receive their repayments late. However, Alidé remains a healthy institution in good standing with its creditors, and Kiva would like to continue working to support its clients. This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee.
