Jackline is an aged 40 farmer in Kitale county in Kenya where she lives with her husband and has been practicing mixed farming for the past ten years, producing milk, horticultural crops and maize which she sells locally. She runs posho mills as an additional source of income.
She is requesting a loan of 62,400 KES from Juhudi Kilimo to buy and insure a dairy cow, which will give her extra income to uplift her family's livelihood. She aspires to have expanded the size of her farm in the next five years.
The high cost of feeds and unreliable rainfall are her major challenges in farming.
She is grateful to Juhudi Kilimo for offering the support.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
