Masturoh is requesting a loan of 2.000.000 IDR to support her online business. She sells a teaching guidance book that she ships to the cities outside of Jakarta. The price is three times higher than in Jakarta. She’s been running the business since 2007, and it has continued to grow. But, her problem is the shipping cost, which is pretty expensive.

Masturoh loves her job, because she loves challenge, she can travel and give to a charity from her income. She donates 0.25% out of every 1,000,000 IDR additional income. She just has to deal with some obstacles, like the distance, competitors, and the quality of the books.

She hopes that, someday, she can have sales stalls in cities other than Jakarta and have a better quality of books.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
