Meet 40-year-old Abu from Kandeh town Bo, Southern area, Sierra Leone. He is a married father of three children between the ages of 4 years and 15 years, all currently attending school.

Previously a diamond miner, after illness Abu decided not to mine anymore and began his clothing business in 2007 to generate income to support his family. Working nine hours per day and seven days per week, he says his enterprise is doing well.

Abu now requires a loan in order to buy bales of used clothing such as trousers, shirts and blouses. He hopes that the extra income arising from the loan will enable him to educate his children and improve his standard of living. In the future, Abu plans to expand his business.
