Ahmed is a resident of the Malindi area of Coast province, Kenya. He is married and has one child. He owns a charcoal business which has been in operation for the last two years. He also owns a motorcycle which he uses to ferry people and goods in the town.
He learned about Milango through a friend and joined the organization with an aim of accessing credit to improve the operations of his business. His main challenge is the punitive measures at times enforced by the local administration on charcoal sellers.
Ahmed is applying for a loan of 41,850 Kenya shillings to purchase additional stock of charcoal. The extra income from the loan will be added to his savings to improve the living standards of his family and to pay for his child’s future school fee requirements. He aspires to be a wholesaler of charcoal.
