Kimyeng, 29, lives in a rural village of the Sa Ang district of Kandal Province. She has two school age children whom need her support.
Kimyeng has been a garment worker for three years and that is her main source of income. Her husband grows rice and caches fish to earn additional income to support their household. The current business earns her about $6 per day and they save about $2 each day after expenses.
This is the first loan for Kimyeng with VisionFund. She is applying for a loan of $800 to buy fishing materials, such as nets, pliers etc., for her husband’s business.
Kimyeng hopes to catch more fish to earn more income from her family, so she can buy a new motorbike for her family to use.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
