Ali is a resident of Mombasa area of Coast province, Kenya. He is married and has one child. He owns a charcoal business which has been in operation for the last six months.
Ali learned about Milango through a friend, and joined the organization with an aim of accessing credit to improve the operations of his business. His main challenge is the punitive measures at this time enforced upon charcoal sellers, by the local administration. Ali is applying for a loan of 41,850 Kenyan shillings to purchase an additional stock of charcoal. He will use the extra income from the loan to add to his savings, to improve the living standard of his family and to pay for his child’s future school fee requirements. He aspires to be a wholesaler of charcoal.
