Myrna is from Campo 5, Aurora. She is 51 years old. Myrna is married and has six children. To make a living, she manages a retail business where she buys and sells fish, and she also has a small sari-sari store (convenience store). She has been engaged in her business for 10 years and earns 6,000 a month for these activities.
In 2009, Myrna joined GDMPC. Myrna is requesting a loan of 7,000 PHP, which she will use to buy fish to resell and to purchase new items for her inventory, such as candies, shampoos, soaps, and Milo (a chocolate and malt beverage). She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve the general living conditions of her family.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
