Raghida is a 32 year old married woman from Lebanon. She is living with her husband and two children. In 2008, in order to supplement the family’s income, she decided to start her own business. She produces a wide variety of homemade food which she sells to customers from her town and the neighboring villages. Her husband, who works in transporting vegetables all over the villages, represents the main income source of the family. Raghida offers support whenever needed. Today, she is asking for a loan from Kiva partner Ameen s.a.l to cover her children’s study fees. She states that the loan will allow them to achieve higher educational levels. In the future, she plans to take more Kiva loans in order to better support her children.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
