Elmer lives in Mitan-ag, Bonifacio. He earns a living by cultivating bananas and engaging in a gardening business. He has been working as a farmer for 14 years, to support the needs of his two children. He gets an income of 5,000 a month for this business. For a 35-year-old father, there’s nothing that can make him happier than to see his children successful in their studies. Without hesitation, Elmer is borrowing the amount of 7,000 PHP from GDMPC microcredit, to buy farm fertilizers. He joined GDMPC in 2009. His plan for the future is, he hopes to improve his business.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
