Dile, who lives in the northern Albania with her family, is in her mid fifties and is mother of six children. She was widowed long ago and was left to bring up the children on her own.
She started a livestock activity about 20 years ago and has been operating it since then. While the first years were very difficult, it became easier later on, she explains. She has been working very hard at this business and has made a good profit that she is content about it.
She is now requesting a loan from VFA to replace a recent stolen milk cow. Dile has been a very good client of VFA for long time and has had the chance to show her responsible nature. She hopes that Kiva lenders will help her financially and she wants to deliver her appreciation to them.
About VisionFund Albania
VisionFund Albania is a micro-finance subsidiary of child hunger nonprofit World Vision International. Striving to improve child welfare, the organization offers a variety of loan products designed for rural, traditionally underserved clients and their families. These products include agriculture, business and household improvement loans, as well as "integration loans" targeted to help the poorest, most vulnerable Albanian households acquire value chain resources.
While VFA is focused on the empowerment of the poor overall, it pays special attention to women. About 60% of loans to entrepreneurs on Kiva go to women.
