Luis Alfonso
Luis is a 21-year-old single man who lives in the city of Chincha with his parents and siblings. He's a very pleasant, hardworking, and enthusiastic person with a great desire for self-improvement. Unfortunately, because he didn't have the financial resources and had to work from a young age to help his parents, he was unable to undertake professional studies, although he would have enjoyed doing so very much. In his free time he likes to play soccer, and sometimes he eats a delicious "carapulcra con sopa seca" [a Peruvian stew].

On his own initiative, and with a lot of hard work and commitment, Luis works in a construction supply business. He starts work very early every day and can work approximately 12 hours in shifts. He believes it's going well for him because he's responsible and dedicated to his job.

Luis is very grateful to the Kiva lenders because thanks to their help he'll be able to make improvements on his house. He wants to be able to do the plastering, painting, and installations. This way his house will be in better condition, suitable and safe for his and his family's greater well-being.

Luis expects to continue working and making the effort to achieve his big dream of having his own house.

About Caja Rural Señor de Luren

Caja Rural Señor de Luren is a microfinance institution based in Ica in southern Peru that primarily promotes the development of the country’s agricultural sector through lending. Today, it also offers credit for consumers, microenterprises and housing improvements, and has expanded its financial services to promote micro-savings and provide micro-insurance. About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
