Visak is a 31-year-old father of two schoolchildren from Sa Ang district of Kandal province. He fulfills the needs of his family by working as an electrician while his wife works as a cleaner in a private school. He has engaged in this business for ten years and is able to earn about six US dollars per day.
This is his third time working with VisionFund, Kiva's partner. He has fully paid back his past loan and it has helped him to cover his children's education. For this portion, he is seeking 600 US dollars in order to buy necessary materials for his business such as diagonal cutters, knee-pads, a continuity tester, and electronic wiring tools. He hopes to purchase these items on time so as he can acquire more clients and earn more profit.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
