“Gardenias” is a Communal Bank that will start its third cycle with Pro Mujer as part of the Germán Busch Community Center. It is composed of eight members, guided by a directive board presided over by Silveria. The members of the Communal Bank engage in different retailing activities, selling various articles such as skirts and blankets, plastic items, “api” (non-alcoholic maize drink), lamb meat, cheese and furniture.

Silveria is one of the micro entrepreneurs forming this group, and she will benefit from the requested loan. Silveria says she has been a member of Pro Mujer for eight years, and that she has been invited to enter by one of the promoters of this institution who came to visit her at her house. She currently engages in selling vegetables. She says that she has started this activity since she was a child, has she could not count on mother and she had to provide for herself.

The loan she in now requesting will be used to increase her working capital by buying vegetables that she will buy at wholesale prices to the sell them in the fairs of the town of El Alto. This type of activity helps her earning an income to economically provide for her family, as she lives in a common-law relationship and she has two children.

When asked about what she likes of Pro Mujer, she answers that she likes the loans and the institution’s health clinic.

La A.C. “GARDENIAS” iniciará el tercer ciclo en Pro Mujer, como parte del Centro Focal Germán Busch, está compuesta por ocho integrantes y está dirigida por una mesa directiva donde la señora Silveria es la Presidenta. Los negocios que las integrantes de la asociación comunal llevan adelante son variados entre ellos tenemos: venta de polleras y mantas, venta de plásticos, venta de api, comidera, venta de carne de cordero, venta de queso, venta de muebles.

El crédito que sacaran beneficiara a pequeñas microempresarias donde la señora Silveria es integrante, ella indica que hace ocho ciclos que integra Pro Mujer, ingresando por invitación de una promotora de nuestra institución que fue a visitarla a su casa. En la actualidad ella tiene un negocio de venta de verduras; cuenta que este negocio lo emprendió desde niña ya que no contaba con su madre y ella tenía que salir adelante.

El crédito que ahora sacará es para el aumento de capital (compra de zanahorias, cebollas, etc.) que adquirirá de las personas que venden por mayor y posteriormente lo comercializará en las ferias de la ciudad de El Alto. Esta forma de trabajo le permite generar recursos para apoyarse económicamente a su familia pues ella vive en concubinato y tiene dos hijos.

Cuando se le consulta qué le gusta de Pro Mujer, ella responde que le gusta el préstamo y el consultorio de la institución.
